Pizza, with canned home grown tomato sauce

...because you know Friday night is pizza night.  Steve had an Alt that he brewed.

Sounds perfect! My goal this garden season is to make all my own pizza and spaghetti sauce and maybe a salsa. (One of my goals!) Now all I need is a good recipe for sauce...

Me too, Lauren. The original recipe for a Margherita pizza was plain tomato sauce, so when I can sauce, I don't put anything in it.

But one night, I made a pizza that was as good or better as Apizza Scholls up on Belmont in Portland, which is famous for its pizza. Steve and I have been benchmarking every pizza we've made against that one pizza and we haven't been able to duplicate it, so now Steve is saying that we have to make a trip back to Apizza Scholls for a reminder pizza.

Works for me....

Saturday night is our pizza night. I make all my own sauce. Pizza sauce:
One 14 oz. can tomatoes
one can tomato paste
Good glug of olive oil
Basil
Oregano
5 cloves of garlic minced

Put in food processor, and simmered for a bit on the stove.

Thanks for that sissyjane!

Wow! Thanks for the recipe.

I know what you mean Paula. I made a pizza one night that I just can't ever replicate. Perhaps it was more wonderful in my mind....

Sorry it took me forever to come back and comment.
