Getting Ready for Chicks

I haven't quite hit the sweet spot with the temperature yet, but by tomorrow afternoon I will have it figured out. I'm pretty close.  Wilco gets split shipments on Wednesday and Friday, so I'll bring four New Hampshire Reds home either tomorrow or Friday.

I think I'd be a lot more excited if I wasn't so darn tired.

Yay, chickens!

Don't worry about precision. You think the mother hen made it exactly 95 degrees? Just make it warm, and the chicks will tell you if it's not warm enough (they'll huddle under the light) or it's too warm (they'll cram in the coolest corner).

You're gonna love having chickens.

I'm with Tamar on the precision. We had the heat lamp in the same spot the whole time the chicks were in the brooder, and they pretty much self regulated. Pretty hardy little guys. Can't wait to see pics of the new fluff balls. :)
